      Today,  all of us know how to purchase a vehicle or transport. But,  not many of us know how to legalise it.  Just buying the vehicle and operating it,  will lead to unnecessary penalties and charges.
      Not only vehicle but the person operating the vehicle should also be legally approved. You should pass a certain age limit and possess a license of that particular level to drive the vehicle. License is issued by checking your driving level.

Now,  we will discuss the activities of Ratnagiri R. T. O: -
1) Registration of vehicles and giving legal numbers.
2) Motor vehicle tax collection.
3) Issue of licenses for public transit and freight traffic.
4) Conduct driving test and issue learner's and permanent driver's license and renewing the same.
5) Maintain database of registered vehicles.
6) Vehicle transfer and registration of mortgage transactions.
7) Maintaining a proper check on the validity of insurance of motor vehicles.
8) Mechanical inspection of accidental vehicles.
9) Grant certificate of fitness to transport vehicles.
10) Issue badges to public transport like Rick Shaw.


 Requirements for some processes: -
1] Learner's license issuance.
 1) Age must be 15+
 2) Documents for age proof.
 3) Passing the IQ test.
 4) Filling the Form No. 2

2] Permanent license issuance.
 1) Age must be 18+
 2) Issuer must have knowledge to drive geared vehicle.
 3) Issuer must pass the driving test.
 4) Filling the Form 4

There are many such activities in R. T. O like issuing a license for 4 Wheeler for which the Issuer must have the knowledge to drive a 4 Wheeler. Also,  for issuing license for heavy vehicles like trucks,  the driver must have passing certificate of 8th Grade,  which is basic necessity and ignorance of that will not help you to get your license.
